Does Bing have better search results?

By greyholme | June 8, 2009

Bing’s search results are far better than anything Live ever returned. That’s not surprising though. For the longest time I thought Live was Microsoft’s version of StumbleUpon.

An interesting experiment is being run to compare Bing with Google and Yahoo! at http://blindsearch.fejus.com/. Basically the search results are stripped of their brand (and any multimedia or local results)

The results are interesting and show pretty similar results between the three engines. I don’re really believe this shows one search engine is better than another.

Personally my biggest takeaway from this experiment is that the inclusion of Universal Search Results (video, images, maps, rich snippets) will become more important for the SERP’s to remain useful. I think this shows that traditional text results are diminishing in importance.
